Author Guidelines

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

Authors should be aware that, in accordance with the Declaration of Helsinki (translated here) of the World Medical Association (WMA) conscientious researchers have ethical obligations with regard to the publication and dissemination of results of research, adhere to accepted guidelines for ethical reporting. The place of work, sources of funding, institutional affiliations and conflicts of interest must be declared. In the course of preparation, submission to the editorial board, reviewing and pre-publication preparation of submissions the authors should adhere to the "Recommendations for the Conduct, Reporting, Editing and Publication of Scholarly Work in Medical Journals" of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors, ICMJE. The Russian translation can be found here, as well as the SAMPL (Statistical Analyses and Methods in the Published Literature) recommendations for the description of statistical methods and results of the statistical analysis.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (STANDARDS)

Submissions containing original research results, including the results of clinical observations must be completed (structured) in full (!) accordance with internationally recognized standards of good publication practices. Submissions drawn up not in accordance with these standards will not (!) be allowed to proceed.

Randomized trials – recommendations of CONSORT (Consolidated Standards Of Reporting Trials). The list of obligatory sections of the submission is posted here, a sample of diagram describing the sequence of conduction of the randomized trial is here.

Nonrandomized Designs – recommendations of TREND (Transparent Reporting of Evaluations with Nonrandomized Designs).

Observational Studies (cohort, case-control, cross) – recommendations of STROBE (Strengthening the Reporting of Observational Studies in Epidemiology). The list of obligatory sections of the submission is posted here. A tailored version is posted here.

SUBMISSION PREPARATION

For submission the authors must confirm the following checklist. The submissions that do not adhere to these guidelines may be returned to authors.

  • The submissions are accepted if they has not been published or submitted for publication elsewhere (or an explanation of this should be provided in the Comments for the editor).
  • The file of submission should be prepared in the format of Microsoft Word or RTF.
  • Internet links are provided as a complete URL where possible.
  • The text should be typed with single line spacing; the font size is 12 points; to highlight the accents it is recommended to use italics rather than underlining (except Internet links). All images, graphics and tables are placed within the text according to the meaning of the particular part of text (and not at the end of the document).
  • Text should follow the stylistic and bibliography requirements as stated in the Author Guidelines.
  • If you submit an article to the peer-reviewed section of the journal, then the requirements of the "Ensuring blind peer review" document should be fulfilled.

SUBMISSION PLAGIARISM CHECK BEFORE SENDING TO EDITORIAL BOARD

In the "Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics" journal editorial board all submissions are automatically checked by the "Antiplagiat" program on the website. We recommend the authors to use TEXT.RU https://text.ru/antiplagiat website. All that is posted on the open Internet falls into the field of view of this website. To avoid time wasting before article submission to the journal it should be independently checked for plagiarism. The TEXT.RU website provides this service free of charge.

ARTICLES SHOULD BE SUBMITTED TO THE ADDRESS:

eva88@list.ru

or be POSTED BY MEANS OF THE WEBSITE of the journal after the registration in the personal account of the author.

In the process of submission of the manuscript to the editorial board, the user needs to go through 5 steps and to fill a number of fields. The most detailed filling is required not only for a successful review of the manuscript by the editorial board, but also for efficient indexing of the published article in world databases and search systems in the future.

GUIDELINES FOR SUBMISSION OF ABSTRACTS (SUMMARY OF ARTICLE)

Structured abstract (summary) is a required element of the article containing the results of scientific research, experimental, quasi-experimental or based on the systematic analysis and synthesis of previously obtained empirical data. The total volume of structured abstracts should not exceed 250 words. The need to increase the wordage of abstracts will be considered on an individual basis. There should be no trade name of pharmaceutical related products specified in the abstract text. The structured abstract must contain five obligatory sections reflecting the chronological order of research practice: Background, Objective, Methods, Results and Conclusion.

Background Information – brief (1-3 sentences) description of the problem, which was the immediate cause of the study. Scale, indirect effects and/or continuing gaps in knowledge may be the characteristics of the problem.

Study Objective – the section should describe the main (primary) goal of the study, the issue for the resolution of which a study is required. Moreover, the objective should be very specific and not be limited to overall comparison.

Methods – this abstract section should contain brief information on:

1) study subjects (healthy, sick, data),

2) availability of experimental group,

3) criteria for inclusion into experimental groups,

4) availability and characteristics of intervention,

5) study site,

6) study duration,

7) outcomes (items of results evaluation corresponding to its primary objective),

8) description of methods of outcomes evaluation.

The need to mention the used statistical programs and statistical criteria in the text will be determined by the editorial board on an individual basis.

Outcomes – section should contain a brief description of study subjects (number included in the study, completed its most significant characteristics of participants) with the assessment of study outcomes related to its purpose. Presentation of study outcomes in the limited number of subgroups (up to 2-3) is allowed, for example, outcomes formed on the basis of sex, age, important characteristics of the disease. If there is data on adverse events related to medical intervention, their mention is obligatory. The results of the statistical analysis (р-value) must be represented with accuracy to the third decimal place. In the analysis of multi-criteria relationships (the simplest option is one dependent and several independent variables) representation of the results of the multivariate analysis is required.

Conclusion – short (1-2-3 sentences) summarizing of study outcomes relating to its main (primary) objective. Authors should avoid over-generalizations and stick to the balance in the assessment of the positive and negative effects of intervention.

CONTACT INFORMATION

Specify the contact information of the author responsible for correspondence (with editorial board, readers). The section should contain the following:

TABLES PREPARATION

All tables should have a numbered heading and clearly marked graphs, convenient and understandable for reading. The data in the table must correspond to the figures in the text, but should not duplicate the information presented in it. References to tables in the text are obligatory.

FIGURES AND ILLUSTRATIONS PREPARATION

The volume of graphic material should be minimal (with the exception of works where this is explained by the nature of the study). Each drawing must be accompanied by a numbered caption. References to drawings in the text are obligatory.

Illustrations (graphs, diagrams, charts, drawings), drawn by means of MS Office, should be in high contrast and clear. Illustrations should be saved as an image (in *.jpeg, *.bmp, *.gif format) and then placed in the manuscript file as a fixed image. The application of any elements on top of the inserted in the manuscript file of the image (arrows, labels) due to the high risk of losses at the stages of editing and layout is inadmissible.

Photographs, prints of screens of monitors (screenshots) and other untagged illustrations should be not only inserted into the text of the manuscript, but also uploaded separately in a special section of the form for submitting the article in the form of files of the *.jpeg, *.bmp, *.gif format (*.doc and *.docx – in case there are additional marks on the image). Image resolution should be >300 dpi. Image files must be assigned a name corresponding to the figure number in the text. In the description of the file, a captive caption should be given separately, which should correspond to the name of the photo placed in the text

(example: Figure 1. Sechenov Ivan Mikhailovich).

If the manuscript contains figures previously published in other journals (even if their elements are translated from Russian into a foreign language), the author must provide the editorial permission of the copyright holder to publish the image in the "Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics" journal, otherwise it will be deemed plagiarism (refer to "Ethics of scientific publications" for further details).

REFERENCE LIST GUIDELINES

In the list of references there are only published materials (links to the Internet resources are allowed). Self-citation should be avoided, except when it seems necessary.

  • In the references list, each source should be placed from a new line under the sequence number.
  • All references are listed in order of citation, NOT in alphabetical order.
  • Number of works of reference: in original articles and lectures, up to 30 sources, in surveys – up to 60 sources are allowed. It is advisable to cite modern sources published in the last 5-7 years.
  • In the text of the article, references to sources are shown in square brackets in Arabic numerals.
  • In the bibliographic description of each source, ALL AUTHORS should be presented. If the publication has more than 4 authors, then after the 3rd author the abbreviation "..., etc." or " ... et al." should be put.
  • It is inadmissible to shorten the title of an article. The name of English-language journals should be reduced in accordance with the catalog of MedLine database names. If the journal is not indexed in MedLine, the authors should write its full name. Names of domestic journals should not be reduced.
  • To describe the release date, volume, journal number and pages where the article is published, use the shortened recording format - for foreign sources, and the full format of the entry - for the Russian-language part of the description of Russian-language sources.
  • Bibliographic descriptions of the references to foreign sources should be in the Vancouver format in the AMA version (AMA style).
  • Bibliographic descriptions of references to Russian-language sources should consist of two parts: Russian and Latin (in a row). In this case, you must first bring the Russian-language part of the description, and then – Latin [in square brackets].

-   The Russian part of the bibliographic description of the Russian-language source in the list of references should be arranged in accordance with GOST R 7.0.5-2008.

-   The English part of the bibliographic description of the references to Russian-language sources should be presented in Vancouver format in the AMA version.

  • In all cases, when the quoted material has a Digital Object Identifier (DOI), it is necessary to specify it at the very end of the reference list. To check the availability of a DOI article, use http://search.crossref.org/ or https://www.citethisforme.com. To obtain the DOI you need to enter the title of the article in English in a search string. The latter website in addition to DOI will automatically generate a properly formalized bibliographic description of the article in English; the citation style is AMA. The vast majority of foreign journal articles since 2000, and many articles in Russian (published since 2013) are registered in the CrossRef system and have a unique DOI. Example:

-   Zhang M, Holman CD, Price SD. Comorbidity and repeat admission to hospital for adverse drug reactions in older adults: retrospective cohort study. New Eng J Med. 2009;338:a2752. doi: 10.1136/bmj.a2752.

Rules for the preparation of Latin (English) part of the bibliographic descriptions of non-English sources (in Roman alphabet)

  • If an article is presented in Latin script language (German, French, Finnish, Danish, Italian, etc.), it should be cited in original language. Example:

-   Ellingsen AE, Wilhelmsen I. Sykdomsangst blant medisinog jusstudenter. Tidsskr Nor Laegeforen. 2002;122(8):785-787. (in Norwegian).

  • If an article is presented in NON-Latin script – in Cyrillic’s (Russian), Chinese, etc., you need to translate the entire link in square brackets immediately after the correct reference in the original spelling. The English part of the bibliographic description of reference to the Russian source should be placed directly after the Russian parts in square brackets ( [...] ). The names and initials of all authors in Latin and the title of the article in English should be cited as in the original publication. Transliteration should be done in the BSI standard (automatic transliteration in the BSI standard is made on the page https://antropophob.ru/utility-i-prochie-melochi/16-transliteratsiya-bsi) leaving the style design of the Russian-language source. This is followed by the transliterated name of the Russian-language journal in the BSI standard, then - imprint details: year; volume (issue): pages. In the end, you should indicate the original language of the article (in round brackets), e.g.: (in Russ.). At the end of the bibliographic description (behind the square bracket) DOI articles are placed, if any. Example:

-   Григорян О.Р., Шереметьева Е.В., Андреева Е.Н., Дедов И.И. Планирование беременности у женщин с сахарным диабетом. // Вестник репродуктивного здоровья. – 2011. – №1 – С.23-31. Problemy endokrinologii. 2013;59(4):3-10. (In Russ).] DOI: 10.14341/probl20135943-10.

  • If the article has an OFFICIAL TRANSLATION of the TITLE, it should be inserted INSTEAD of TRANSLITERATION – in the same manner as transliteration – in square brackets after the original writing of the bibliographic reference to the source. The easiest way to check availability of the official translation of the title of the article is to find the article on www.eLibrary.ru. Example:

ADDITIONAL CLARIFICATION

Permission for reproduction and licensing

The authors should confirm that each graphic object presented in the manuscript (drawing or photograph), and, in some cases (for editorial review), tables are copyrighted and are not taken from other sources. To this end, each graphic object must be signed as follows: "Source: Full name (original author) and co-authors, year".

When using adopted graphic objects or tables (including from own previously published works) in the manuscript, which are owned by a third party, the following is obligatory:

-   to provide written permission of the copyright holder for the reproduction to the editorial board or

-   to indicate the type of the license (usually this is a Creative Commons family license) which this graphical object or table spread in the caption to a graphic object or table.

If you have the copyright holder permission to republish in the caption to the graphic object/table, specify the following: "Source: reprinted from [reference to the original source] by permission of ... (name of the copyright holder)". If a graphical object/table is distributed under the terms of the Creative Commons licenses the caption should contain the following: "Source: reprinted from [reference to the original source]. Distributed under Creative Commons license ... (name of the license: for example, Attribution indicating the version). In the latter case, it is necessary to submit a link to a page on the Internet where these distribution terms of the adopted graphic object or table are declared by the copyright holder.

NB!

  • If the authors use the adopted graphic object (table) translated from a foreign language, in the text of the manuscript, then the capture to this object (!) must contain a reference to translation (adaptation). If the authors use the borrowed derivative (essentially changed) graphic object in the text of the manuscript, it is obligatory (!) to use the "published with changes" notice in the caption.

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The manuscripts are accepted if has not been published or submitted for publication elsewhere.
  2. The materials should be prepared in a format OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or World Perfect.
  3. Internet links are provided as a complete URL.

  4. Text should be typed with an interval of one and a half line spacing, font Times New Roman, 14 pt; to highlight the accents it is recommended to use italics rather than underlining (except Internet links). All images, graphics and tables are placed within the text according to the meaning of the particular part of text  (and not at the end of the document).
  5. Text should follow the stylistic and bibliography requirements as stated in  Regulations  located in the Part "About Us."

  6. Please, remove the authors' names from the title of the article and other parts of the document to ensure the  anonymity of reviewing.
